How we started

We are Scott and Simona and our adventures began in southeast Utah with a red Winnie (2018 Winnebago Travato 59g), which we loved and drove for 12,000 miles in its first year! As we explored southern Utah, southwestern Colorado, northern Arizona and New Mexico in our camper van, we learned a lot about the lifestyle and our own needs and wants during travel.
About five months in, we started to notice little “improvements” we would make if we were to have our ideal van; “have a kitchen window, don’t waste precious space on things like microwaves or fancy radios, have powerful batteries that will last us several days away from civilization, etc…”
So, when Scott got furloughed in March 2020 from his position as a designer and product manager for the leading trade show exhibit company as a result of the global pandemic, it seemed like a natural fit to start our own venture in building sensible and affordable quality camper vans!
Who we are

Scott
Scott has extensive technical training and experience in design, drafting, constructing and repairing structures. He is also passionate about working with people to understand their needs for better products and processes and bringing these to reality through his designs and ideas. While he has solid foundations in using what works, he always pursues new and innovative ways of solving problems, including the use of the latest materials and technologies. Outside of work, Scott enjoys watching and playing sports (especially football) and following Simona around to cool places to visit.

Simona
Simona is the principal adventure planner for the duo. During the day, she works in the environmental protection field but during her free time she plans trips, helps Scott test and build his design ideas, and dreams of living in a van down by the river full time... She is passionate about outdoor recreation. Indoors, she spends a lot of time on fabric crafts, such as sewing and wool felting which also influences material choices for Ridgeway Vans.
